Catherine Zeta-Jones the wife of two times Academy Award winner Michael Douglas felt devastated and heartbroken after hearing the sexual allegations against her husband.
On November 25, 2016 (Sunday), Jones told The Times of London the following.
My children and I were profoundly devastated by those allegations and I was torn about where my absolute morals lie. This woman came out of nowhere and accused my husband. I had a very big conversation with him, with the kids in the room.
This Tuesday, the Welsh actress also talked on NBC News’ Today. The 49-year-old admitted having ‘a very open marriage’ with her husband. And this is the reason that is making their marriage work nearly after two decades.
The couple shares two children together, a son named Dylan (18) and a daughter named Carys (15). Catherine revealed that their whole family including children discussed the problem together.
Catherine said the following words: ‘First of all, I’m so happy that we’ve made it to be 20 years together. It’s been great, but I think it’s just unfathomable to me that you would be with one person for 18 years and things are not rosy every day… ‘They’re just not… Both Michael and I have a very open relationship. When you have kids that didn’t ask to be born into a world where it’s scrutinized or looked into… You’ve got to be open and honest and share things that probably people at the drugstore wouldn’t share over the counter.’
While sharing information about her family, she explained that their family is like a big European family and every issue is discussed around the table.
In the month of January of 2018, a journalist named Susan Braudy claimed that Michael Douglas(74) masturbated in front of her during a meeting in the late 1980s. She said it was the peak time of actor’s career and she was working in his production company.
After the word got out, in his defense, Douglas immediately talked about the issue with Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter. While talking to Deadline, he revealed that Braudy has total four allegations against him and one of them was that he has masturbated in front of her and used false language in front of her.
The actor said, “I remembered this woman: sophisticated intelligent, good sense of humor. A novelist, who has written books and published novels and was an active feminist, and proud of it.” Later he added, “My head was reeling. I just couldn’t put this together. I’ve had no contact with her, in thirty-plus years.”
Michael Douglas clearly declined masturbating in front of her by saying, “Masturbating in front of her? I don’t know where to begin. This is a complete lie, fabrication, no truth to it whatsoever.”
Recently Catherine also revealed that the allegations weren’t backed by anything strong. But on the other end, Braudy says something completely different.
She told The Hollywood Reporter, “I believe this is part of the problem, as is his pretext of victimisation. These are some reasons why so many women don’t come forward with their stories — Lord knows it’s taken 30 years and a movement for me to gather my courage.”
After reading the words of Braudy and Douglas, I think the incident should be investigated properly. But as Braudy’s story does not have a strong backup, I believe it could be a false allegation, I am not saying it is, But it could be.
