‘YouTube’ Ordered a Thriller Pilot With ‘Ben Stiller’ on Board as EP

Ben Stiller

When it comes to the original tv series, Netflix is pretty ahead from the other networks. But now YouTube doesn’t want to be left behind. As the video network giant has ordered a drama named Dark Cargo from Entertainment One, Canada’s Counterfeit Pictures, and SEVEN24 Films.

Dark Cargo will be exclusively made for YouTube Premium. The show is penned by Adam and Max Reid. Previously the writing duo has worked on a few episodes of Sneaky Pete.

The show will be executive produced by Ben Stiller and Nicky Weinstock via their Red Hour Productions banner and eOne will be serving as the studio behind this project.

The official log for the show’s plot goes like this:

“Dark Cargo” is a high-octane, cliffhanger-driven, neo-noir thriller set in the big rig cab of Joe Dobbs as he traverses the darkest nights of his life. What begins as a random encounter with a disturbed stranger turns into a race against time, the police, and even more malevolent forces. All the while, Joe just wants to get back to his family.

No cast members are appointed for the project yet.

Other than Dark Cargo YouTube is currently working on two more pilots and they both are comedies. First is The Edge of Seventeen which is based on the critically acclaimed film of the same name and second is It’s a Man’s World.

The story of It’s a Man’s World revolves around a woman who gets blacklisted from the gaming industry disguises herself as a man to re-enter the field and continue supporting her family.

I think Dark Cargo will be fun to watch, I haven’t seen a thriller in a long time. So, I am definitely looking forward to this show. What are your thoughts on this guys? Do share in the comments below.
